I’ve made over 25,000 smoothies in my lifetime.
I used to work in a popular smoothie shop for several years when I was in college.
Making smoothies is my thing, and I have it down to art and science.
You see, there are tricks to making the perfect smoothie that nobody is talking about.
10 Tricks to Making Smoothies that Don’t Suck:
- Start with a great base! Add this ingredient first. I love using almond milk, coconut milk, cold coffee, or just plain water!
- Add powder second. Blend liquids and powders first before adding anything else.
- Blend the ice or frozen fruit separately or last!
- Freeze your spinach and other greens. Add less water when using these because they are already high in water.
- Add avocado, coconut oil, nut butter, yogurt, or gelatinous seeds (like chia and flax) to make the smoothie creamier! You can also make this a smoothie bowl too!
- Adding fiber and fat will keep you full.
- Use a great blender. I use my Nutribullet almost daily!
- Bananas and dates make the best sweeteners (make sure you pit your dates).
- Purchase your berries from Costco. Seriously unless you grow berries yourself, you won’t find cheaper (and organic) berries than this.
- The right cup and straw are crucial. I use mason jars and reusable metal straws. No waste!
BONUS TIP:
Protein powder can make or break a smoothie. I use Primal Kitchen Collagen because the price, quality, and texture are on point! I like the vanilla because it can be an excellent base for other flavors like chocolate.
Smoothies are all about texture!
Don’t settle for less with these tips.
